A new Peach Cobbler Factory franchise has made its way to Charlotte, and it’s Black-owned.

The dessert chain, established in Nashville in 2013, is located at South End Eats (500 W. Summit Avenue). The chain has more than 50 franchises across the South.

Kareema Hunter, the store’s co-owner, said she decided to bring the expansion to Charlotte to bring joy during the pandemic.

“I want to do something that makes people happy. That makes me happy,” she said. “No one’s mad at sugar. No one’s mad at sweets.”

The pastry shop has up to 12 cobbler flavors, including peach, cherry, blackberry and caramel apple, starting at $8. Various flavors of cinnamon rolls and banana pudding are also served.

Each selection comes with a cup of vanilla ice cream.

The pastry shop is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m Tuesday through Sunday. Delivery is also available through Uber Eats, Postmates and DoorDash.

Since opening three weeks ago, Hunter said, business has been good. Caramel apple and cinnamon peach praline have been customer favorites, she added.

Hunter said she has plans to expand across the city and surrounding area.

When you first walk in, you place your order on a tablet near the entrance.

I got the sweet potato cobbler.

The order didn’t take long to make and was warm when it came out. The texture was soft and had the perfect balance of sweet potato and cobbler crust.

The cold vanilla ice cream was the perfect addition.
