Dozens of grassroots organizations were approved for grant funding at last night’s Board of County Commissioners meeting.

The money came courtesy of the American Rescue Plan.

The county’s spending fell into five priority areas: 

• Affordable housing and homelessness
• Behavioral health and health equity
• Childcare and early childhood development
• Parks, environment and infrastructure
• Workforce and economic development

Among these approved for funding were several Black-led organizations:

Why it matters: The American Rescue Plan Act was passed by Congress to repair the national economy after it suffered during the Covid-19 pandemic.
